Pinky St. Custom: Taskal

Description

Pinky St. is a series of small figurines from Japan that can be taken apart to mix and match various outfits and hairstyles. [Link]

It has become popular to make mods of existing Pinkies by repainting pieces to make brand new looks and characters. Some people take it beyond just simple modding to make complete customs, which is what I've done here...

I started by making molds of the pieces I wanted to use (the legs, torso and head), then filled the molds to get the actual parts. Hurray for taking a class in 3d art while I was in school, it helped a lot during this process!

Once the pieces were dry, I sanded them and put them together to make the basic model. Using a variety of clays and epoxys, along with other material, I filled out the figure into the character I wanted.

And Taskal here is the second Pinky that was commissioned by :iconlysanna: to be the groom-type elf-guy, adorning the top of her wedding cake!

I really enjoyed making him because I don't really get a chance to work with many male characters (since most of mine are girly-girls), and it was an extra challenge taking something as feminine as the Pinky St. dolls and making it look more guy-ish. But then... the long, flowing white hair pulled back in a ponytail doesn't really say masculine, does it...? What is it with elven races, huh?? Oh yeah, based on this design.

Oh well, I think he's rather cute and maybe he and Angellus could have fun being girly-looking boy elves together. No, not -that- way, get your mind outta the gutter!! >.<

ANYways, Taskal comes with a rather spiffy top hat that can either be held in his hand or actually worn on his head. And of course, I made sure he had a place next to his bride-to-be on thier grassy green base. ^_~

If you are interested in commissioning me for your own Pinky custom, please get in touch with me via email. Please keep in mind that due to the complicated process and time it takes, that these will run no less than $50 per figure. Prices based on level of difficulty.

(They don't have to be related to games or anything, they can be your own creations too!)

So you molded and cast existing pinky parts to make that? That's a good idea, and nice job.
I maybe should've done that for mine...
